YWPA Award
This program was established in 1990 to encourage more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.
Applicants must be pre-university or pre-college students (age 16-20) at time of application.
This program operates at the club, district and international levels of Zonta International.
Since the inception of the program Zonta has awarded 465 awards to 418 young women representing 47 countries.
Zonta currently provides US$ 1000 to each district recipient and US$ 3.000 to five international recipients.
Since 2002 a second and third district award of now € 300 and 250 are presented.
Candidates have been nominated by clubs in Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, i.e. from all countries in District 14.
How are the Young women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Recipients Chosen?
Zonta Clubs publicize the program in their communities and distribute, receive and evaluate applications.
(Applications for the club award can be handed in in German, Hungarian, Croatian etc.)
Zonta Clubs select one application –if necessary translated into English - to send to the Zonta District Governor.
A district evaluation committee selects one applicant per district to submit to Zonta International Headquarters.
The International YWPA Subcommittee recommends five applicants for international awards to the Zonta International Board.

Applications received by Zonta Clubs (club deadline, generally in January or February)
Club recipient selected and application sent to District Governor 1 April
District recipient selected and application received by Zonta International Headquarters 1 May
Announcement of District and International Recipients 1 July
